Assigned Reading
Narrated slides and videos require Flash. Download► What do you know?Advanced learners like you, often need different ways of understanding a topic. Reading is just one way of understanding. Another way is through writing about what you have read. The following questions get you to think more about the concepts taught in this session.
"Do One" Assignment: Design How Genetic Information Can be Used in Management of Depressed PatientsAnalyze the information that a clinician needs to manage a depressed patient based on their genetic information. Identify the information needed on first call to a clinic, first visit, between first and second visit in 8 weeks, and at your recommended time for subsequent visits. Clearly identify the point in time when you recommend that the patient receive an antidepressant prescription. Keep in mind the time it takes to have genetic information become available. Describe who will receive the information and how this information may lead to change in prescribed antidepressant. Present your work in a set of slides (see examples in assigned reading) with each slide describing the information needed at the specific meeting and decisions made about patient care. End with a summary of the optimal business process your information needs assessment suggests. Do your suggested steps reduce or increase the number of visits to the clinician?
