Instruction for Submission of Assignments: Assignments should be submitted directly on Blackboard.  In rare situations assignments can be sent directly by email to the instructor. Submission should follow these rules:

  1. Submit your answers in a Jupyter Notebook Download► YouTube► Slides►
  2. Submit you answers in Blackboard.

Question 1: In the previous project (on Multi-Morbidity index), you calculated the likelihood ratio associated with various diagnoses.  In this assignment, we explore the relationship of rare diseases (defined to occur at least 30 times in the data but no more than 1000 times) and prognosis of the patient:

  • What percent of patients in the database have at least 1 rare disease?
  • Plot the relationship between number of occurrence of a disease and its likelihood ratio.  Is there support for the hypothesis that rare diseases are more fatal?
  • Select the diseases to rare diseases and calculate the accuracy of Multi-Morbidity index if only rare diseases were used in the index.
